First Love

For a moment, let’s consider this our prayer triplet, you, Jesus and me. Open and honest.

Ok, I’ll start…  55 years ago Patti and I began pursuing one another, spending as much time as we could talking, or just being, together.  Even after curfew, we would fall asleep on the phone, just talking. I still love being with her.

Do you remember when I met You, Lord?  Of course You do, You loved me even before I loved You. You, the Creator of the Universe, giving up so much, pursuing me so we could talk with You, anytime, anywhere, about anything, about little things, even embarrassing things, and eternal things. Still do.

I’m sorry I get busy, Lord, even with lots of good things, but also with distractions that don’t matter in the big picture. I don’t stay on the phone with You, so to speak, as often as I desire. And when I do, it seems my phone doesn’t always connect right away, but I know You always do, so as you know, I keep trying until I connect.  I know You see me, and I’m thankful. Whew, I sometimes forget You are the God of the Universe, kinda overwhelming. Your Word encourages me to seek You more. I believe, but help my unbelief. With You, I find peace.

Yes Lord, I appreciate our church teaching and focusing on Your purpose of prayer, and our becoming more of a praying church. I appreciate the times we can gather and pray together as the body of Christ for our church, each other, our new Pastor, our family and neighbors that don’t know you yet and for Kingdom purposes.  Don’t ever let us slide into a plateau, or complexity that takes our eyes off of You, Lord. You are our first love. Thank You for Your gift of prayer!

And here we are, the three of us talking together. Go ahead friend, your turn. Let’s keep this conversation with our Father in heaven going.
