Mama.

Stepmom.

Mother-in-law.

Grandmother.

Mentor Mom.

Bonus Mom.

Many women in our church family are called one (or more) of these versions of “Mom”. The name is communal in that sense. In its simplest form, the name Mom indicates relationship.

I’ve seen the “moms” at LTCC engage in all types of relationships:

• With their own kids as they disciple them at home

• With other people’s kids as they serve in Children’s Church and Adventure Club

• With moms of all ages as they encourage and counsel one another

• With the church body as a whole as they volunteer their time in various ministries using the unique gifts God has given them.

Made in the image of God, moms are an awesome reflection of God’s goodness and love. As we gather together this Sunday, let us praise Him for the concept of motherhood. Let us greet our “moms” with thanksgiving. And let us be encouraged by them to continue the mission of loving God by helping people follow Jesus.
