ron hubeek - missions ministry leader
I was born in Surabaya, Indonesia. I lived there for 7 years, then moved to Holland for 3. In 1960 when I was 10 years old my family moved to the USA. We were sponsored by a church near Albany, Oregon. I am the oldest of 7 kids, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. I am blessed to be married to my wonderful wife Frannie for 44 years. I have 2 awesome daughters, Emilie (married to Randy) and Sarah (married to Andy) and 7 grandkids who keep me young.
I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior in my senior year of high school. During my college years and after, I drifted away from the Lord. In 1982 Frannie and I first attended Lake Tapps community church through an invitation from a friend to listen to a Cantata. Soon after that we became regular attenders. I recommitted my life to Christ and Frannie was led to Jesus by Pastor Birkey.
Pastor Birkey was a major spiritual influence in my life. Through Pastor Birkey’s encouragement and discipleship, I served in different ministries at LTCC. I taught adult Sunday school, led a men’s discipleship group and served on the church board.
It was Pastor Birkey who gave me my first taste for missions when he asked Frannie and I to be part of a LTCC mission team to the Dominican Republic. Since then, Frannie and I have been privileged to go on many more mission trips. I am also humbled to personally know all the 20 missionaries Lake Tapps supports.
The Missions Committee’s goal for 2023 is to build on the momentum of the 2022 Missions Emphasis week. In 2023, we are excited for Micah and Laura Meyers to be home on leave. We will be looking for ways for people to engage with them. Also there will be a special weekend to hear from Kathryn and Evan Burton. The missionary spotlight will continue throughout the year to encourage people to pray, communicate and financially support them. If anyone would like to be on the Missions Committee or help with any special events, please contact me.
My prayer for LTCC is Psalm 96:3 Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous works among all the peoples.
