November 2024

1. How is God working in and through your ministry?

So many families are hearing about Reality Sports Volleyball and want their daughters to be a part of it.  We had 90+ players tryout for our U12-U14 teams on October 28th.  God is so faithful as he has brought me several new coaches for the teams.  These are amazing people who love the Lord and love the game of volleyball.  It’s so exciting to stand back and watch the Lord work in the lives of players as well as coaches.

2. What is something we may not know about you?

It might seem strange to some people that I am the Director of Volleyball for Reality Sports, but that I played basketball through high school and on scholarship for college.

3. What is something you need—big or small?

Reality Sports Volleyball is in need of monthly donors. ($10/month-?/month)  I’m particularly interested in donors that want to give to a scholarship program for our competitive teams.  Even though our Open Training-June-October is by donation for families, we incur many costs for our Competitive Team Training-November-May, which means there are player fees for this training.  Many families are going through some really difficult things these days and find that they need assistance, and we love to be able to give them that assistance by way of a scholarship, but it takes donors to make that happen.

• Please pray for coaches (harvest workers).  There are so many families that are in need of the gospel and God is bringing them to us in droves, but we cannot offer them a place without the necessary coaching.

• Please pray for a facility space so that we can grow and get the gospel out to more families.

may 2024

• Reality Sports is wrapping up our competitive season this month. 

• We are gearing up for our Spring Clinic which is full, and the waitlist is full as well. Pray that court space will open, more coaches will be found so that we can offer more time slots and that none will be turned away.

• This summer we will have Grass Volleyball at Kalles Jr. High in Puyallup two nights a week. This will be open to everyone (adults and kids). We will be hosting current players as well as many new players. 

• Please join us right here at Lake Tapps Community Church on Friday, May 17 for our 4th annual Dessert Fundraiser. You will be blessed by testimonials from coaches, parents, and players. There are so many impactful stories and we would love to have you there to hear how God is working in the lives of so many young women as they are trained both physically and spiritually. Registration for this event is now open.

Prayer requests:

• Pray that our coaches will continue with our ministry next season and that God will provide more coaches as we are growing.

• Pray for this Summer's (Grass Volleyball) program that many lives will be changed through the gospel messages given each night.

January 2024

We are just getting started with our competitive teams program.  We have 7 teams on mission to "Compete Upsidedown" as they travel to tournaments both locally and out of state over the next several months. 

Our new Developmental Volleyball program for players either that didn't make a competitive team or choose not to compete at that level is now up and running two nights a week.  There are 4 teams and they will have several scrimmages during the months of Jan-March.

Between these two programs, we have 25+ coaches speaking the gospel into the lives of nearly 130 families.  

Prayer requests:

• Pray that these families would hear the truth and choose to follow Jesus. 

• Pray for our coaches that they would be filled with the Holy Spirit as they share with these young women. 

• Pray for endurance as it is a very long season for the teams.  

• Pray that as we go out into the world, that the light of Jesus shines through our players, coaches, and parents.

AUGUST 2023

Reality Sports Volleyball is an 11-month ministry with either Open Training or Competitive Teams throughout the year. We are gearing up for Fall Clinic in October. We anticipate between 60-80 girls ages 10-15 will participate. These young girls will be trained in volleyball and hear the good news of the gospel each session.

In November, we begin our Competitive Teams. We will have 7 teams ages U11-U16. These competitive teams will be discipled by their coaches through the 6-month season and beyond.

We ask for prayer that God would move mightily in the lives of players, coaches, and parents this year. Also pray that as our teams go into the competitive world of volleyball that opponents, officials, and others will see the light of Jesus in the lives of our RS players, coaches, and parents.

Please pray for our Developmental program as this will be our first season of the Developmental Program.

APRIL 2023

Ministry Highlights:

1. We have 7 competitive teams ages 11-16. This involves 72 players all getting to hear the gospel each week. Pray that these young women are really hearing and applying God’s word in their lives.

2. We will be transitioning into “open training” soon which means many new girls will be coming to our training for the first time. Please pray that these young girls experience an inviting atmosphere as they will be hearing the gospel perhaps for the first time. 

3. We are expanding our ministry in the Fall. The goal is to continue to have competitive teams, but we are hoping to add a developmental division. This will provide an opportunity for those not quite ready for the more competitive team a chance to experience our program through training. Please pray that we find just the right director for this program.

NOVEMBER 2022

Reality Sports Volleyball has just begun our Competitive Teams Season. This season runs from November to May.  This year we had the largest turn out of athletes ever for the tryouts.

We were able to firm 7 teams this year, this is our largest number ever. We are now up to 13 coaches. God is good!!

Please pray for God's hand on all these athletes, coaches, and especially the parents.

As we train and compete, we want to share the good news of the gospel. Pray for the hearts of these athletes as they hear the gospel message, that Competing Upsidedown will permeate everything we do this season.

JUNE 2022

It has been a great year of Reality Sports Volleyball!

We appreciate the support of so many of our LTCC family.

God has been so faithful for providing for every need.

We begin our Summer Grass Volleyball Program on July 12 - Aug. 25 every T/Th evening 6-8 pm at Cascade Christian McAlder Elementary campus. We currently have over 100 players signed up to participate in this event. Praise God! With this will come a great need for help. If anyone has some extra time on those evenings, we would love to see you. Come keep score or just be there to encourage our players.

We would also invite you to pray for the future of RS Volleyball as we are beginning to outgrow our current facilities.

We trust God to provide for all those needs.

February 2022

UPDATE:

I am in awe of God's goodness.  This season 36 new players are hearing the gospel message, many for the very first time. Your support and prayers are so important.

PRAYER REQUESTS:

 I treasure your prayers as they are vitally essential to the ministry of Reality Sports Volleyball.

• Pray for the girls to apply God's Word to their daily lives as they hear it during practices.

• Pray for the families of the girls to be drawn to Christ as their daughters are impacted and growing.

• Pray for our girls that truly want to take their relationship with Jesus to a higher level. They are learning to pray, study God's Word, and worship.

• Tournaments are scheduled nearly every weekend between now and end of May.  Pray for endurance and health for coaches, players, and parents. 

• Please pray for all of our Coaching Staff, Players, and Families as we compete in the Puget Sound League. We seek God's guidance as we learn to compete Upside Down in the Volleyball world.

September 2021

We had a very successful summer Grass Volleyball Program. We had 75+ girls registered to play and at least half of those were brand new to our program. We will begin a Fall Clinic starting September 22 and running through October 22.

• Please pray for our program that we will be able to accommodate all the players that wish to be a part of Reality Sports Volleyball. Between coaches and facility, we are in need. The players are coming and we don’t want to turn anyone away. Praise God that we have so many that want to be part of the RS program.

• Also pray for our upcoming Competitive Season which begins with tryouts at the end of October. May God provide for all the girls that desire to play on one of our teams.

MAY, 2021

We are wrapping up our Competitive Team's season. We are beginning to announce all our summer/fall programs.  We will be inviting the entire volleyball community to attend our summer programs.  This opens up the opportunity for 100's of players to hear the gospel.  We have not done that before and we are very excited to see what God is going to do with the summer program.

PLEASE PRAY:

• for the Holy Spirit's leading as we begin these programs.

• for the finish of our Competitive Team's season. 

• that God will bring many more coaches to serve in this ministry.  The more players we have at our programs, the more coaches we will need.  We don't want to turn anyone away.

Please pray this week for our own Pam King as we formally commission her to full-time ministry with Reality Sports. Pam, along with her husband Dave’s hands-on support, works with young girls, teaching them volleyball, and sharing with them the gospel.

Pray especially at this time that Pam and Reality Sports would be able to find / create suitable outdoor training spaces until COVID restrictions are lifted and they can again train and practice indoors.
