Enrique, Susan, Elyana, Malaki & Samaria

In the early 90’s, a ministry called Partners in Christ was visiting churches in the US and came to LTCC. That was when Pastor Birkey first met Jose Medina. As a result, LTCC began sending teams on mission trips to Mexico.  Jose’s son, Enrique, soon was the leader for many of these trips. Our friendship and partnership with the Medinas grew over the years. In 1996, Enrique married Susan and four years later they felt God leading them to begin their own ministry (Ravah) to connect US churches with churches in Mexico. Enrique’s parents, Jose and Victoria, have joined them in their efforts. Ravah is Hebrew for “refresh” and their mission is to come alongside Mexican pastors to equip, encourage and bring refreshment.

— Updates —

August 2024

1. How is God moving in your ministry and what can we celebrate with you?

  • Our ministry has change after Covid but the Pastors in Mexico have continued strong. Our role has changed to more of a coaching model, much of which is done through video chats, etc.

2. What is a fun fact or unique incident that we probably don’t know about you?

  • Many years ago I (Enrique) was attempting to translating for a doctor who was explaining some female issues to a patient. I was totally embarrassed and red faced.

3. What is your greatest need and how can we be praying for you?

  • Please pray for our three kids. They are older, pursuing work and education but still living with us.

  • Please pray for more US teams to desire to go to Mexico.

  • Please pray for our traveling needs.

    MARCH 2024

I (Enrique) am currently in Nogales, Mexico, visiting with my parents.  You may remember they moved from Basconcobe to Nogales last October.  They have been living with my sister, Rebeca and her family.  My parents are doing well.  My father, Jose, has been able to preach multiple times at the church they are attending, Alfa y Omega.  He is also helping and advising the young pastor.  My mom, Victoria, is involved with the ladies’ ministries. I am enjoying having my parents closer and watching them develop new ministry opportunities.  It is possible the future will hold a new partnership for me and Ravah Ministries.

Our Hermosillo dental clinic that was scheduled for the end of February was postponed due to medical issues from the team members.  We will reschedule for March or soon after.

March 14-17 I will be traveling to Hermosillo, Mexico with a group from Phoenix.  We will be doing a women’s conference and a construction project.

Thank you very much for your prayers and support.  Jose and Victoria say “hola” to all of you.

May the Lord bless you,
Enrique Medina

Prayer Requests

  • Pray for churches to want to come down and minister in Mexico

  • Safe travels with the teams in March

  • For the new partnerships developing in Nogales

OCTOBER 2023

Hi Friends,

Greetings from hot Arizona.  We are doing good. The kids keep us busy. Elyana graduated from high school in 2022.  She is currently working part-time and will begin online classes with Grand Canyon University in January.  Malaki will graduate from high school in 2024. He is enrolled in the pre-med program at Grand Canyon University. He also works part time at a Panda Express.  Samaria, our youngest is a junior and she works part-time at a fast-food restaurant called CupBop.  She will enroll in a 1-year Aesthetic program.

On October 6th I (Enrique) travelled down to Basconcobe for a couple of reasons:

  1. To meet with Pastor Miguel the president of the pastoral alliance to plan for future events.

  2. Jose and Victoria made the difficult decision to move north to Nogales to live with their daughter Rebecca.  Age and health reasons made it the best choice for them.  After more than 60 years of fruitful and difficult living, the move was fast and smooth, but sad to leave behind so much.  They are doing well and adjusting to their new life and are excited for this new chapter.

Please Pray for:

  • Please pray for Jose and Victoria during this transition in their life

  • Guidance for Enrique and Susan and what ministry will look like in the next 5 years. Financial needs for schooling and ministry.

  • New people and churches to be interested in ministering in Mexico.

  • Pastors and their churches from Imuris to Etchojoa.

  • 3 Dental mission trips for next year.

JUNE 2023

Hola my brothers and sisters !!!

Things are starting to work up here in the South West !!!

Here are some of the things happening with Ravah Ministries:

  • We traveled with a team to Mexico where we helped with construction during the day and children’s ministry, women's ministry and preaching in the evening.

  • We are continuing with coaching and assisting the pastors with the discipleship program, video call or phone calls.

  • We had a dental & medical mission May 11-14 in Hermosillo. We took 5 dentists and treated about 60 people, and also gave talks about health and personal care, and also the people from the church shared while people waited.

Please continue to pray for new churches to join the efforts in Mexico. We are in conversation with a possibility of one wanting to come to Mexico.

We will be traveling to Colorado in July to visit churches and supporters.

Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support, greetings from Jose and Victoria we are all doing well, kids getting bigger, our baby who is 16 just got her driver’s license so prayers for driving teenagers are highly appreciated.

We love all of you

For His Service

PS - I don’t even want to say how sad we are for the loss of pastor Tim but resting on the promise that we will one day see him again and rejoice all together!!!

JANUARY 2023

With the Lord's joy, energy and encouragement, He accomplished His purposes on this latest Ravah Ministries trip to Sonora Dec. 1-11.

These included:

- A Christmas celebration for about 30 pastors and their families. Thanks to so many at Bridgeway Community Church, Creekside Bible Church and Treasures 4 Teachers for the donations of Bibles, women's devotionals, lotions, soaps, school supplies and much more!

- Four training sessions of CPR for about 110 Red Cross workers, firefighters, police officers. Did you hear that one team of firefighters used what they had just learned on someone having a heart attack later the same day?! Praise God!!

- Many thanks to West Douglas Fire Department for sharing their fire fighting equipment with two communities in Sonora. One of the small town fire departments spends every Saturday training about 40 teenagers in necessary fire fighting skills.

- Teaching women's Bible studies in four communities (acting out the parable of the Sower 😊), discussing what to do when we're struggling with hard soil (hearts deceived by the enemy), rocks (problems or suffering) or thorns (cares of the world), as well as rejoicing in how God is bearing fruit in our lives.

- Sweet times of heart-to-heart conversations with women.

- Evaluating progress on two in-process church buildings.

- Prayers and laughter amid weeping and trials.

- Thank you for praying for Vivian, whose surgery on her ankle went well. She'll be off her feet for 9 weeks, then have physical therapy, so continued prayers please.

We're already making plans for next year's trips. Consider joining us!

*Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established*, Proverbs 16:3.

Medina Update

Even during Covid, the Medinas have been busy!

With physical help from teams from two churches, and financial and prayer support from many others, two Ravah trips were made to Hermosillo in March. They worked on construction jobs, shared fun and the Lord with kids, did Bible teaching with women and worked alongside friends, all with love, motivated and empowered by Jesus Christ and for His glory!

They provided wheelchairs to those in need in Etchojoa. They also provided training for a few in order to reach the many.

  • Pray that Ravah Ministries would be able to continue to equip, encourage and bring refreshment to Mexican pastors, their families and their churches.

  • Enrique’s father, Juan, had a mild heart attack in May. We are thankful that he survived and ask that he remain healthy.

August, 2020

Please pray for Enrique and Susan Medina and their family this week. They serve with Ravah Ministries, equipping pastors and churches in Mexico.

Lake Tapps has partnered with Enrique and Susan for over 25 years. Through the years Ravah facilitated a number of mission trips to Mexico from Lake Tapps.

Mexico has been hit hard by the Coronavirus. On August 29th, Enrique and a pastor in Mexico will be conducting a training for about 100 other pastors on how to minister and thrive during the Coronavirus. They would appreciate your prayers for this training.
