mike tedrow | LAY ELDER
I was raised in a Christian home and at age eight I gave my life to Jesus. He has walked with me through many adventures, triumphs, trials and failures. He has always been faithful even when I was not.
The first Sunday of 2007, my wife JoAnn and I found our family at LTCC. We were drawn to the biblical, expository preaching, warm worship, and the folks here were, well… friendly! We jumped in, head-first. I had come through a long stretch “in the desert,” and was hungry for the Word and Gospel-centered teaching… I needed to grow and never return there again!
At LTCC, the faithful teaching of Scripture, Small Group Bible studies, Mentors and Fellowship have been instrumental as I have grown in my understanding of who I am in Christ and His call on my life. I love Jesus, his Holy Scripture, the Body of Christ and the Hope of eternity that is ours to share, “…forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ.” -Phil 3: 13-14
Somewhere around 2009, Tim invited us to help lead Sermon-Based Small Groups, (we’ve been leading our current group ever since). I have helped with the Men’s Ministry for many years, and most recently we’ve been organizing “Supper for Six-ish”… if you haven’t tried S4S yet, give it a try, it’s fun! I enjoy studying theology (nerd alert), but to quote R.C. Sproul, “… our theology (study) should always lead us to doxology (worship),” so I strive to live what I know and praise the loving God who redeems us.
I recently retired from a career in manufacturing that required a lot of business travel, so the time I now have to connect with others in fellowship and study has been a blessing. I am excited, honored and humbled to be called to the office of Elder at LTCC. This will be a challenging opportunity to serve the Body of Christ. I am particularly excited for opportunities to work with folks who are passionate about discipling and spiritual disciplines.
JoAnn and I enjoy working in our garden together and when the weather is too wet for that, I’m likely to be found doing stuff in my workshop. (In an earlier time I would probably have been a tinker.) Visitors are welcome, but be prepared for some dust! We are also looking forward to traveling the country, and we have sons, daughters and grandchildren scattered from here to Tennessee, so we always cherish time with them.
