Serving on Sunday

I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:3-6

It’s true. I do thank God for all of you! I’m thankful for your love for the Lord, your commitment to grow in Christ, your desire for community among fellow believers and to today’s point, your hearts of service.

We are all well familiar with the imagery of the body and its members; all our unique parts working together as the church. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27). And at LTCC, we do that well. So many members share in the joy of serving Christ within the church! However, I am writing because we have a real need for more of our body parts (from pinky toes to eyeballs) to actively participate in serving on Sunday mornings.

As we welcome many new people, and desire to ensure continued connection with existing attendees, it is imperative that we offer a warm greeting and provide the services of an usher. And as our children’s ministry continues to grow (praise God!), our children’s church teachers and nursery helpers must grow with it. Our worship team, from the stage to behind the soundboard, is mighty but small and would welcome your God given talent.

I sincerely understand the innate desire to be asked personally to serve in an area of need, and that will continue to happen as our servant leaders do their best to connect with you. However, today I am asking that you pray, then step out of your comfort zone and put yourself forward to serve.

If you are serving already…

  • Is there another area in which you would like to serve?

  • Would you be willing to serve during second service after attending first service, or vice-versa?

  • Would you like to be scheduled more or less frequently than you are currently?

Please communicate your interests to serve or change serving preferences by filling out the Join a Serve Team form (also available through our Serving webpage under Next Steps, or via the homepage of your Church Center app), or by emailing me, trista@laketappscc.org.

And as I began with Paul’s thankfulness in the beginning of his letter to the Philippians, I conclude with his faith, trust and hope in God’s provision for all of LTCC’s needs.

And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen……….The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Philippians 4:19-23

(Trista is our deacon overseeing our benevolence ministry as well as quarterbacking church connections and church administration. As part of "administration", Trista does the scheduling for all our volunteer needs on a Sunday morning. That provides Trista with a unique birds-eye view of how Sunday mornings run. We asked her to share that with you this morning.)
