Family Ministry Update
Dear LTCC Family,
Over the last few weeks we’ve heard Pastor Bob and Micah proclaim, using God’s Word, that God has called all of us to share the good news of Jesus with others. This fall, in our Parent Equipping Class, we’ve discussed what that looks like as we strive to intentionally disciple our kids at home.
A few commonalities I’ve seen, whether we’re engaging with unbelievers in a remote village, or in our local communities, or in our own families:
1. If God has called us to something, He will provide what we need. What will He provide?
Himself (Matthew 28:20)
His Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8)
His power (Romans 1:16)
An Example (1 Peter 2:21)
2. The way in which God will use us will be surprising. Why?
We might think we don’t have what it takes, but God uses the weak to shame the strong (1 Corinthians 1:26-31)
We might feel we have to be forceful, but it is God who creates divine appointments (John 6:44)
We might believe the message is confrontational, but sharing it brings peace (Ephesians 6:15)
3. The end result (aside from someone coming to saving faith)?
God is glorified (2 Corinthians 9:12-14)
We have joy (1 John 1:1-4)
We know that not everyone who hears will believe. This fall, the Rooted class (5th-7th grade) looked at many of the ways Jesus tried to tell people why He came by using parables. In Adventure Club and Children’s Church we saw how people responded to Jesus by either rejecting Him or by just being amazed by what He did. But there were also many who worshipped Him for who He was.
For those of us who worship, will we go on mission to tell others why? Our Adventure Club teachers took their kids by the mission wall each week and talked about the missionary spotlight. They gave the vision of the call to share the gospel wherever God takes them in life. And parents are equipping their kids by practicing gospel conversations “when they sit at home and when they walk along the road and when they lie down and when they get up” (Deut. 6:6).
Session 2 of Adventure Club, Rooted, and the Parent Equipping Class will start in late January. In the meantime, we will look to celebrate the holiday season with our annual Winter Party at the end of November and focus on the Advent of Christ through the month of December with the Children's Christmas Choir performing on December 17th!
Along with all our teachers, I’m grateful to be part of the whole body at Lake Tapps, full of uniquely gifted people, who are all on mission together!
For the elders and deacons,
