For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Dear LTCC Family,

I remember my first time ever going over to Tim and Sue’s house with our young kids. Justine and I were relatively new to the church and were having dinner with Tim and Sue to get to know them better. We weren’t there for more than 5 minutes and Tim was already on the carpet playing with toy trucks and Legos with our kids. Tim got down on their level.

I’ve always thought that was a beautiful picture of the gospel – the Son of God condescending to our level by becoming human. We can know the LORD of the universe because He came near to us by becoming like us. Tim modeled Jesus to our church family by coming near to us. Tim embraced the servant heart of Jesus that Paul speaks of in Philippians:

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Philippians 2:5-8

Tim dedicated his ministry to the Village Missions motto to “preach the Word and love the people.” With Sue as his loving and devoted partner in ministry, Tim faithfully preached the fullness of the gospel throughout the Scriptures and demonstrated his love for LTCC by getting down to our level. He never portrayed that he was above us, but he always met us where we were. Showing us love and telling us about God’s love in Christ is Tim’s eternal legacy. He seized opportunities to love people and tell them about Jesus all the way to the end.

This weekend we will honor Tim’s life of humility, poured out in service to his King and Lord. Here are the details for Saturday’s celebration:

Saturday, May 13th
3:00 pm
Lake Tapps Community Church
Reception with a light meal to follow

If you are unable to attend the service, a live stream will be available via this link.

May we rightfully grieve our loss but celebrate Tim’s gain.

For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Philippians 1:21

On behalf of the elders and deacons,

Brian
