Let's Grow!

I recall the exact spot in my childhood home. My brother, sister, and I would take turns putting our ankles firmly against the wall, looking straight ahead, and fighting the temptation to stand on our “Tippy-Toes”.  We would wait with anticipation as our mom walked over with the pencil. I remember mom smashing down the hair on my head (yes, I once had hair) to ensure an accurate measurement.

Then hearing the pencil go back and forth against the wall behind me, my heart would race with excitement. The moment of truth. I’d step out from the wall and look back quickly to see how much I’d grown. Sometimes I would be disappointed, other times elated with the amount of growth I witnessed.

I am very encouraged by the amount of growth taking place at LTCC. The unity and oneness experienced at the Members’ Meeting was palpable. We will miss Pat Shotwell when she leaves for Montana. We are sad to see Daniel Geske, Perry Maxfield, and Brian Peterson all stepping down from their leadership posts, but happy these men will continue to call LTCC home as they enjoy a season of renewal. We thank all of them for their many years of service, and who knows, perhaps God will call them back to leadership in some way or another in the future at our church. God is good and He is sovereign over all of the seasons and details of our lives so we can trust Him.

In the coming months you will have plenty of opportunities to Join Together on the Journey with Jesus as we seek to carry out God’s vision for our church through various studies, small groups, and gatherings.  I am excited to GROW in relationship to Christ and with you all! There are times in our walk with the Lord that we “stall”, or even “shrink”, but now is the time to continue moving forward. And whenever our time is done at LTCC, I pray we look back and see how much we’ve grown. Let’s GROW!
