Compelled

When I participated in a Christian singing group a few years ago, the choir director was more than a musically gifted leader. He often encouraged us with his pastor’s heart as well.  On multiple occasions, he told us that part of belonging to this group of Christians with the mission to share the gospel through song was the requirement that we must be compelled by God to do it.

Compelled.  Not just able, but compelled.

This made me just a little uncomfortable.  Was I compelled by God?  How did I know?

I knew that it was not easy, comfortable or convenient.  I knew it was a big commitment, hard work and required personal sacrifice.  And that is where God increased my faith. He compelled me to serve him in a way that was out of my comfort zone, and it was so very rewarding to my heart and soul.

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” Colossians 3:23-24

Within the walls of LTCC, God has compelled me to come alongside people in financial need, both within our church and in the community, through our Love One Another benevolence ministry where our team supports those in financial distress by fostering relationships and sharing Christ's love alongside practical aid.

Memorizing and performing gospel songs or loving others through compassion ministry may not be your particular call, but like many others at LTCC who are serving kids, greeting on Sundays, leading music…God is calling you in ways that you will feel compelled to serve.

What is God compelling you to pursue? Is there a role within LTCC that stirs your heart, or perhaps a new ministry you're inspired to initiate?

He may be calling you out of your comfort zone so he can do a new thing in you and in this church.  It is His power that will work within you to accomplish it if so!

I want to encourage you. Don’t wait for someone else to do it.  Don’t expect it to be easy, comfortable or convenient. When you are compelled by God to do it, it will be rewarding!  How exciting!

“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever.” Ephesians 3:20-21

Amen
