Seasons...

And just like that, Summer is gone.  School lunches are being packed, buses are rolling, math facts are being studied, and like it or not, we are forced back into a stricter routine.  As a school teacher, I love this time of year. There’s just something about new crayons, a clean stack of notebook paper and a fresh start.  Soon the leaves will be changing and we’ll have further evidence that a new season is here.  I trust you have had a great summer and are now ready to dive into this new season.

This new season brings many opportunities for fellowship and growth for all ages at LTCC.  New Bible studies, midweek kids and teens ministries and men’s and women’s ministries are starting back up.  I am thankful to be a part of a church family who take the Word of God and discipleship opportunities seriously.  As you are planning your fall schedule, I encourage you to pray about what LTCC ministries you might be involved in.  May you embrace this season ahead, and grow in the LORD.

As seasonal change brings many good opportunities, the reality is, change in life is not easy. Maybe this is a “season” of uncertainty or unmet expectations.  Perhaps you are facing a health crisis, an empty nest or find yourself in a place you could have never imagined.  For THIS, we have the LORD.  Regardless of situation or circumstance, in HIM, we have hope.  True hope.  Hebrews 6:19 calls this hope an anchor for our soul.  1 Thessalonians 5:8 refers to the hope of our salvation as a helmet.  In Jeremiah 17:7-8, we see a third picture of hope.  It tells us that a man who has the LORD as his hope is like a tree planted by the water.  His roots go deep, he does not fear and his leaves stay green and attractive.  So, even if this season is filled with difficulty, we can be sure we will be anchored (held fast), protected as with a helmet and He will produce good fruit as we remain in Him.  This encourages me.  Whatever season, we can be people of hope, by staying focused on Him, praising Him, and saturating ourselves in His Word.

As Women’s Ministries Deacon, I’m excited about the ministry season ahead as it will give us opportunities to do just that.  We’ll kick off the year with our breakfast on September 23, hearing short testimonies from women who have placed their hope in God.  In October our monthly breakfast will be in conjunction with Missions Emphasis Weekend, where we’ll be encouraged in the Word by Laura Myers and on November 18, we’ll have our first ever Women’s Praise, Prayer and Pie evening.  We’ll wrap this season up with our Women’s Christmas Brunch on December 2.

During this busy season, may you run restfully, stay focused on Him, be saturated in His Word and continually offer up praise.  Isaiah 26:3 says, “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!”
