New Sermon Series
Good morning LTCC Family:
I hope this finds you well. This coming Sunday we will be starting a new sermon series on the book of Ephesians. For those registered in Bible studies on Ephesians, let me encourage you to think of this sermon series as complementary to your study in Ephesians as opposed to repetitive.
As we look to the state of the American church right now and our current cultural moment, it could be argued that there might not be a more relevant book to focus on right now. In myriad ways, the Church is in decline. This is especially marked by the mass exodus of young people leaving the church. And although there is complexity to why this is happening, one of the reasons for this is linked to the fact that we as Christians have lost the sense of Good News that the Gospel really is. And if we ourselves are not sure that the Gospel is good news, it makes for a very “hard sell” when it comes to communicating that message.
Paul’s letter of Ephesians is jam-packed in its telling of the Gospel as good news. This significant theme takes up the first half of the book. Then, in the last half of the book Paul goes into great detail to explain how the Gospel story shapes our story. (As in, every nook and cranny of our lives.) Ephesians might be small, (it’s only six chapters), but it is mighty.
Personally, I am looking forward to preaching Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. As I have begun study of the book, I find myself challenged and inspired to rethink what Christ is calling us into. It truly is a life-altering message. That is the power of the Gospel.
To help reacquaint ourselves with the book, here is a great video overview done by The Bible Project: Watch: Ephesians Bible Book Overview Video | BibleProject™
Looking forward to Sunday with you.
Nathan, with the elders.

But wait! There's more . . . please keep reading . . .
Interested in an ESV Scripture Journal for Ephesians?
We ordered a few! You can find one on the bookshelf outside the library. While you’re there, why not check out the many great resources that are available to you for free?!? Yes, the library doubles as a Mother’s Room during service but is open to Everyone before and after service so don’t be shy; go check out a book or two!
Order your own copy from Christian Book Distributors or Amazon.
And here's a brief update from Perry Maxfield on where the Succession Process is at.
On behalf of the Sr Pastor Succession Committee, I'd like to give you a quick update on the search process. The committee interviewed Nathan on September 7th where we shared a meal together, spent a couple hours with Nathan, and followed that with a time of sharing thoughts and determining next steps. The elders are interviewing Nathan on the 20th, and within a few weeks from there, both the elders and the committee will reconvene and determine how to proceed. Our goal is to make an announcement in October. We appreciate your prayers for discernment and steadfastness as we pursue God's will in this journey.
Blessings,
Perry
