Trust

Jeremiah 17:5-8, Psalm 1:1-3, Daniel 2:21

Election Day: Tuesday, November 5th, 2024.

I want to place before you two scenes:

One is a dry, hot, brown, deserted wasteland. Barely anything lives. Nothing thrives here. It’s a lonely, difficult place with no hope.

The other is a lush, green valley with a river running through it. Everything is vibrant. Birds are chirping, squirrels are running, and flowers are blooming. Trees provide shade and fruit for all. No one is worried when drought comes.

What’s interesting is those two places are NOT representative of what kind of world we will live in just because a particular political party wins or loses. The first scene represents the one who has placed their trust in man and in this present world.

The other scene encompasses the one whose trust is in the Lord, the one who delights in God’s law. If we want to put down roots in the more pleasant environment described above, our hope cannot be in an election or in a person, but in the almighty, all-powerful God who is in control.

I believe you can vote and trust God at the same time. So, vote your biblical convictions and leave the results to our King. Some may not agree, but I also believe if voting violates your conscience, then don’t vote and trust God.

Brothers and sisters, let us be kind and compassionate to one another knowing our true citizenship is in heaven, along with multitudes from every tribe, nation, and tongue. Trust God.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

Justine Peterson

One of the takeaways from Missions Emphasis Weekend was the need to focus on the “4-14 window”. This is because most children put their faith in Christ between the ages of 4 and 14. The statistic emphasizes the importance of Family Ministry at LTCC.

In Discovery Club and Children’s Church, our theme this fall is the Church on Mission as we are studying the book of Acts. The kids are learning that Christians everywhere (the church) are to make disciples of all nations by the power of the Holy Spirit (the mission). As the primary disciple makers of their kids, parents are meeting as well in the Parent Equipping Class to discuss the intentional ways they teach their kids the truth of God’s Word. Both parents and kids will come together on November 13th to celebrate the end of our session with an event called Family on Mission.
