This is HIStory!

Dear LTCC Family,

Last Sunday, we had the sacred opportunity to gather together for our Members’ Meeting. These meetings are not simply business meetings, but an opportunity to gather as the Body of Christ, to be encouraged by what God has done, what He is doing, and how we see Him leading our church forward. I always get the sense in these meetings that we are standing on Holy Ground.

Our family meeting started with fellowship over a delicious potluck.

  • 94 members and regular attenders were present, with another 10 joining us via livestream.

  • Council Chairman, Perry Maxfield called our meeting to order and then Brent Allan, a Transition Team member and Elder candidate encouraged us to follow Jesus, both personally and as His Body of believers at Lake Tapps.

  • Pastor Bob reminded us of the journey we are blessed to be on, where we’ve been, where we are now and where we are going.

  • We celebrated 19 new members and remembered those God promoted into His presence in 2023.

  • We recalled God’s faithfulness in our 2023 finances and were challenged to trust Him for additional provision in 2024 as we follow Him into new areas of ministry.

We affirmed 2 Elders and 9 Church Council members.

  • Brian Peterson and Gary Warne will continue leading the Body as Elders, with plans to affirm additional Elders within the next few months.

  • New to our Leadership Team are Seniors’ Ministry Deacon, Lynn Hurley, Family Ministry Deacon, Matt Moench and Facilities Deacon, Nick Jacques.

  • Perry Maxfield, Leeanne Needham, Justine Peterson, Ron Hubeek, Daniel Geske and Trista Sutherland will continue to serve the Body in similar capacities in 2024.

We voted on an updated constitution and bylaws as well as our new mission statement.

  • Based on a recommendation from the Transition Team and Washington State Law, the Congregation voted to split the LTCC Constitution into two documents, with the sections of the constitution that speak to the operations of the church being removed from the constitution and placed into a separate document, the by-laws.

  • We had the opportunity to see HIStory in the making as we voted on a new LTCC Mission Statement, “Loving God by helping people follow Jesus”

I’ve been reflecting on the faith of the Israelites as they stepped into the Jordan River. We are standing on the banks of the Jordan, trusting in God's promises and His character. Do we have all of the answers? No!  Do we know the exact timeline in regard to the arrival of a new Pastor? No! Do we know exactly how He is going to provide? No! BUT we fix our eyes upon Him, taking the position of absolute surrender.

Eyes fixed upon Him. This is HIStory! How will you fit into the story in 2024? Praying fervently for our new pastor, current and future leaders? Serving in a new capacity? Sharing your story with others? Extending hospitality? Becoming a member? Helping someone follow Jesus?

It’s going to be a great year! I personally can’t wait to see how God leads Lake Tapps Community Church in 2024.

Leeanne, on behalf of the Deacons and Elders
