Wasn't it just Christmas???
Dear LTCC Family,
Wasn’t it just Christmas? Didn’t we just put the decorations away? I am constantly amazed at how fast time seems to go. Here we are. Signs of Spring. The days are getting longer, the red winged black bird is back singing his cheery song, daffodils are poking their heads out of the ground and trees are budding. In just a little over 2 weeks, Easter will be here! It’s earlier than usual this year and quite honestly, it feels like a bit of a surprise to me.
As I’ve been reflecting on these things, The LORD has been reminding me that the arrival of Good Friday and Easter is never a surprise to Him. It has always been His plan. Way back in Genesis 3 when Adam and Eve chose to live life separate from God, He planned a way to restore them to Himself, giving them abundant, eternal life and promising defeat to Satan, the enemy of all mankind. We must NEVER forget about Easter! We must NEVER forget about the abundant blessings we have in Christ Jesus! We must NEVER forget about the Gospel!
Yet I confess, sometimes the cares of this world cause me to temporarily forget it all! I get so caught up in my calendar, the urgency of the next task, worrying about tomorrow, my failures and all the rest! Yet, He lovingly reminds me that for all of this, He Died! For all of this, there’s the Gospel and we must constantly be brought back to it. The Gospel is not just to be preached to unbelievers. It also must be rehearsed daily by those of us who know Christ. The Apostle Paul dedicated sizable portions of his letters to remind believers in the early church of the Gospel. We too need these reminders. Jesus Christ and His glorious Gospel changes everything. It contains everything we need for life and godliness. 2 Peter 1:3
I am so thankful for a church home like Lake Tapps where I know the Gospel will be preached, where I will continually be reminded of the Gospel and where I will be equipped to share this Gospel with others. I am thankful we can celebrate Christ’s death and resurrection together each and every Sunday regardless of the season, but may we all be extra mindful in the coming days before Easter to reflect on the amazing gift we have received in Christ. May the Gospel amaze us daily!
