A Short Update

Good Morning Lake Tapps

This week I have a very short report on the Fall Bible studies that began the week of September 12th. Some of us are now into our third week of the various studies. We are discovering for the first time or for some, remembering again the glorious truth about who we are in Christ, and what He did to make that possible. Specifically, dying in our place for our sin so that we might be declared righteous, so that we might enjoy eternal life with Him. That’s the Gospel short and sweet.

J I Packer says that the more we know about the Lord and who we are in Him, our love for, and faith in the Lord will grow. What we know about God affects the way we live. As our faith in Him increases, His peace permeates our life. May you experience His life changing peace as you study His word.

On another note, some have asked about who is living in the parsonage. Until the parsonage is needed for our next youth ministries leader, we've kept an eye open for someone who could live in the parsonage on an interim basis to maintain it and to keep an eye on the grounds during the week. Colin Topp was looking for a place to live closer to his work and so we asked him if he'd be open to taking up residence in the parsonage for the near future. It was a good fit for him and is a win for us. Thank you, Colin.

As a reminder, there's still time to register for next Sunday's lunch with Chuck Kelley, after second service. It will be an informal opportunity to hear firsthand an update on the work of Bridge Builders in Latvia and, in particular, their work with Ukrainian refugees who have fled to Latvia because of the war. Click here to let us know you plan on coming.

Finally, for those of us who know Ginny Valkenaar, just a reminder that Dave and Pam Page will be hosting an open house this Sunday at the church, between 2 and 4 p.m., to celebrate Ginny's 100th birthday. Cards only please -- the gift for this sister will be your presence.
