Fall Family Focus
One of the things that drew me and our family to LTCC was the all-pervasive feeling of family. At risk of sounding cliché, our first Sunday felt like we were coming home. Months into attending the church I remember a conversation we had in our small group in which one person commented about some help they had received from another, “We do that because we are a family.” Again, I am aware that the word “family” can get thrown around all too easily. But the reason why that conversation stuck with me was because those words described reality.
When you go to the church website, under the LTCC Mount Rainier graphic at the top of the home page are the words A Family Growing Together. As a staff team, we started having conversations a few months ago around the idea of having a church family event this fall just for the sake of, well, family. We thought the beginning of fall could be a good time to have an event to celebrate all of what God has been doing in our church family, cast the vision for what is coming this year and also take some time to remember what we are about too:
A church family committed to honoring God by introducing people to Jesus Christ, helping them grow in the faith, and equipping them to reach others.
We’ve called it The Fall Family Focus event. It will happen directly following the 10am service on Sunday, September 11th and will be a time for us simply to get some time together as a family, enjoy a meal (catered by Dickey’s Barbecue Pit), have some fun (think family game night), and catch a sense of what’s happening and where we can get involved (ministry fair).
Here’s the thing: if we are a family growing together, part of growing together must mean having some fun together, right? The goal of the Fall Family Focus event is to provide this kind of space where we’ll remind ourselves what it looks like to be a family joyfully growing together and do so before our busy schedules kick in for the fall.
Registration is open now and closes 9/5. We’d love to see you there for this family fun event!

PS – You may notice that this event extends our summer service hours by one Sunday. We will resume two services starting September 18th.
